BAT REC is a family owned business that has been operating since 2002. We are fully licensed to collect and transport Used Lead Acid Batteries (ULABS). We are also legally licensed to store and process these ULABS in our Wacol plant. All batteries are disposed of in a fully licensed facility.
The lead price is decided on the London Metal Exchange price from the previous month or in some cases on the competition within the lead industry. If the prices are down one month it does not mean that it may not be higher the next month. As we cannot contact all our customers with a new price we ask that if you are contacted by someone else with a different price for the new month please give us a call. we may be able to match or better the price offered by our competitors.
It is also a good idea to check with whoever is collecting your batteries that they have the correct paper work to give you and that they are licensed. We issue a receipt for all batteries picked up. This covers you if the EPA or the Council asks what happens to your batteries.
We are fully insured. One of the conditions of a Waste Transport License is that we have a $5million Public Liability Insurance cover and we also have a comprehensive insurance cover.
All our vehicles are sign written with our company name and phone number and any of our drivers will have BAT REC and their name embroidered on their shirt. We do not employ sub contractors.
Bat Rec has regular collection runs approximately every six weeks. This means that we will call on you on a regular basis but if for some reason you have a large quantity of batteries that you cannot store until we are due, please contact us to arrange a special pickup.
Thank you

BATTERY MUSTER FUNDRAISER
Is your committee tired of selling chocolates, raffle tickets and organizing pie drives?
We know that coming up with successful and practical fundraising ideas is an ongoing challenge for School Parent and Citizens Committees but we have a unique idea we think will appeal to your parents/members and therefore earn you some needed funds.
In the past couple of years two Queensland organizations the Springsure Junior Rugby League Club and the Condamine Cods Rugby Union Club have raised significant funds with battery musters that have been well supported by their members.
The Springsure Junior Rugby League Club raised $26,547.10 by collecting 103.04 tonnes of batteries from November 12, 2007 to July 4, 2009. They only had 6 members to do this. Of the 50 members of the Condamine Cods Rugby Union Club 15 members raised $16,482.20 in just three months by collecting 47.48 tonnes of batteries.
Because of their success and our desire to help other organizations raise funds we are now presenting this battery muster idea to all school P and Cs throughout Queensland, both City and Rural. If you would like to know more about this idea, please email or phone us.
However weve attempted to answer some of your potential questions in the following few pages so read on to find out what is involved in taking up this opportunity to raise some additional funds for your school.
By collecting batteries that may otherwise be left lying around at homes, properties and businesses, you are helping the environment as these components can be 100% recycled.
We would suggest that you consider it to be a yearly or two yearly event so that you can collect a significant number of batteries and collect the money in one transaction. For some schools there could be an ongoing designated collection point or just put out a call for them to be delivered during a shorter, sharper time frame.
